FAROS SEAFOODOUR STORY

It was 1965 when a house on Buckley Street was bought and Faros Bros Oysters was formally established by an ambitious and hard-working couple, George and Dorothy Bananis.

The Faros Bros Seafood story, however, goes even further back… Originating from the Greek island Limnos, both George and Dorothy came to Australia for a better future, eventually meeting and getting married in Sydney.

George had been working in a fish shop in Newtown, delivering oysters when he had an idea. As oysters were so popular and cheap, he thought to himself why not start his own oyster shucking business …. Opening oysters became George and Dorothy’s second nature, as dozens of oysters were sold and the business began to grow. It was their next move to Buckley Street that led the Faros Bros dream to flourish into a reality.
